Katie Rizzo
Katie Rizzo is an author, writer, and educator whose son Nicholas died of opioid addiction at age 25. A scientist by training, she responded to loss by doing what she has always done: documenting, looking for patterns, and writing. Her forthcoming hybrid memoir, The Trimesters of Grief, published by Koehler Books with audio licensing by Blackstone Publishing, reframes the experience of losing a child through the lens of pregnancy. Her poetry collection, None of Them Are You, gathers poems from the first nine months after Nicholas' death and releases on November 1st, the Day of the Dead.
